The following are references to the Powell surname in the book Pendleton District SC Deeds 1790-1806 by Rev. Silas Emmett Lucas, jr.

These records perhaps give us some clues and avenues for further research about these Pendleton Powells. It has been surmised by some researchers that some of these Powells have ties that go back to earlier Chatham county NC families.

For the most part, I will just relate the names and dates.

P. 381,382 James Powell(called sr in oath) and Ales Powell, his wife, for love and affection they bear to beloved children, Sam Stevens and Polly Stevens, grant property, etc. 19 Sept 1805. witness: David Murphree and Allen Powell.
